Acknowledgements

A book of this scope could not have been completed without the help of a number of people. I would like to give special thanks to Vida Radovanovic and Gail Hanney; without them this book would not have been possible. To the contributors of each chapter, I am indebted for the countless hours spent in gathering information lending assistance in the preparation of this volume. I am grateful to Janet Cangiano and David Hehn for their editorial suggestions, and John Mardon, who illustrated the maps.

In the preparation of this publication, many books and other resource materials were consulted. The Toronto Historical Board was helpful in providing us with information on historical plaques and monuments in the city. The primary source for history on Toronto’s multicultural communities came from Toronto’s People published by the Multicultural History Society of Ontario, an organization which enhances both academic and community understanding of multiculturalism.

The royalties from the sale of Many Faces will go to assist non-profit multicultural or charitable organizations.
